What to Expect from a Mobile Makeup Artist on Your Wedding Day

"If you've never had a mobile makeup artist come to you before, it's completely normal to wonder what the morning will actually look like."
I've been arriving at Northern Beaches homes, hotel rooms, Airbnbs, and wedding venues for over seven years. I've worked at Jonah's at Whale Beach, Manly Pavilion, Q Station, and The Boathouse Shelly Beach — and I can tell you that the mornings that feel calm and magical all have one thing in common: everyone knew what to expect.
First: why mobile over a salon?
Going to a salon on your wedding morning means travelling — possibly across Sydney, in your wedding dress or carrying it, on a timeline you don't fully control. Traffic, parking, running late — none of that should be part of your morning.
When I come to you, you stay in your space. You can have your music playing, your champagne poured, your bridesmaids around you. You're getting ready in the environment that feels like yours, at your own pace.
The morning itself: what to have ready
Environment
- Good lighting: Natural light near a window is best. I bring a ring light if the room is dim.
- Clear surface: A table or dresser nearby for my professional kit.
- A relaxed room: Limit foot traffic to keep the energy calm and sanctuary-like.
Self-Prep
- Skincare: Do your routine before I arrive. Just moisturiser and sunscreen is perfect.
- The Order: Bridesmaids go first; you go last so the look is as fresh as possible.
The timeline: how a typical morning runs
Early Arrival. I arrive 10–15 minutes early to set up and get a feel for the space. A professional morning never starts "exactly" on time.
Skin Prep. Before any product goes on, I prep your skin. This is the secret to 12-hour longevity in the Sydney climate.
The Mirror Moment. Before I pack up, you see the full look. We tweak anything until you feel 100% confident.
Touch-up Kit. I leave you with your custom lipstick and blotting papers (plus setting spray for summer beach weddings).
